AGM Returns to the Great Hall in 2025

We are delighted to confirm that this year’s Annual General Meeting will be held in the newly restored Great Hall, part of the North Wing at the Hospital. Attendees will be able to ascend the magnificent Hogarth Stair once more, this time viewing the paintings under new lighting conditions following the refurbishment.


Guild members are hereby invited to the Annual General Meeting of The Guild of the Royal Hospital of St Bartholomew, which will take place as follows:

Wednesday October 22nd, 2025

Doors: 2.15pm; Refreshments: 2.30pm; Meeting: 3.30pm

Guest Speaker: David Meara FSA (see below)

The Lady Mayoress, Mrs Florence King, will be in attendance together with Sheriffs and Shrieval consorts.

Venue: The Great Hall, North Wing, St Bartholomew’s Hospital


David Meara FSA is a retired CofE clergyman. He served in the Oxford Diocese for 27 years prior to becoming Rector of St Bride’s in Fleet Street from 2000 and Archdeacon of London from 2009, holding both positions until his retirement in 2014. David is a renowned author and speaker, with his books covering architecture, history and train travel, including ‘A Passion for Places – England Through the Eyes of John Betjeman’. He was elected President of The Betjeman Society in 2023 and lectured in the same year as part of the Barts 900 celebrations.
